English + Demi Pair

Overview

Add a 12 week BROWNS Demi Pair experience to your English language program.

Experience the ultimate language and cultural immersion with BROWNS English Language School's English + Demi Pair program. This unique opportunity allows you to enhance your language skills while living with a welcoming host family in Australia. As a Demi Pair, you will assist the family with light household duties for up to 15 hours per week, creating a nurturing and supportive environment for language practice. In exchange for your valuable contributions, you will receive comfortable accommodation and delicious meals, providing a home-away-from-home experience.

Campus: Available at our Brisbane, Gold Coast and Melbourne campus.

Requirements:

• Minimum 12 weeks' notice
• Minimum eight (8) weeks study at BROWNS
• Minimum Pre-Intermediate level of English. Take our free BROWNS Online Placement Test
• Minimum age is 18 years old
• Bring one (1) valid bank cards with your name printed on the card
• Applicants must be approved for a Working with Children Check (Melbourne)/Blue Card (Brisbane/Gold Coast)* (fees apply)
• Australian phone number upon arrival

Description:

• As a Demi pair you will work (unpaid) as a part-time, live-in housekeeper while attending English lessons at BROWNS during the day
• Your host family will provide you with 12 weeks accommodation in a private room, with two meals Monday to Friday and three meals on weekends.
• You will be required to work (unpaid) 15 hours per week.
• Our Demi Pair Manager will give you an orientation on arrival, telephone contact every week and support whenever necessary.
• Your application must be made at least 12 weeks prior to commencement at BROWNS and may be approved following a virtual interview.
• Accepting all genders from a broad range of ages (18+).

Queensland Blue Card:

To join the Demi Pair Program in Queensland (Brisbane/Gold Coast), all applicants must meet the latest Blue Card Services requirements. Please read carefully before applying.

• To apply for your Blue Card, you must visit TMR (Transport & Main Roads) on your first day of school to obtain a CRN (Customer Reference Number). You must bring a valid bank card with your name printed on the card.
• Apply online for a paid Blue Card (fees apply) and link to your Demi Pair organisation within 7 days. If your Blue Card is not approved and linked within 7 days you cannot work for the host family and you must switch to homestay accommodation (AUD $55 per day) until your Blue Card is approved and linked.
